View the SHC 2014 Year In Review
Expansion. Adaptation. Innovation.
These words, in many ways, defined 2014 for Signature HealthCARE. The Revolution brought our total number of locations to 125. We welcomed new centers to the family and took pivotal steps to position SHC as an integrated care network capable of meeting health care needs across the full spectrum of care. We expanded into new business lines while continuing to enhance and invest in existing service offerings.
Just in time for the holiday cooking season, Signature HealthCARE (SHC) has released a cookbook featuring recipes – some generations old – from patients and staff members in its nursing homes.
Titled ‘Cooking with Love,’ the book features a little bit of everything, from appetizers, soups and salads to sides, all-American dishes, ethnic fare, desserts and more. The project began earlier this year in Signature’s Urban Division, with staff members at SHC centers soliciting recipes from patients and contributing their own.
Recipes in hand, Signature then held a contest asking employees to submit suggestions for the book’s title. Meanwhile, patients created and submitted artwork for the cover.
This Veterans Day, Signature HealthCARE would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of our nation’s military veterans, and those still actively serving. We especially want to thank all of our residents and stakeholders who served our country.
Happy Veterans Day from the Signature family to yours.
For those unable to attend a SHC Hall of Fame ceremony, we’re bringing the celebration to you with four sites that were selected to have their ceremonies broadcast live via our website.
On October 9, 2014, 99 Signature HealthCARE centers across the southeast and midwest will induct over 400 distinguished individuals into the Hall of Fame, in local ceremonies featuring celebrity speakers and presentations about the inductees lives and accomplishments.
The Hall Of Fame is an innovative Quality of Life Program developed by Signature HealthCARE designed to honor the lives and accomplishments of our patients, stakeholders, volunteers, and others who have had such an impact on our centers, communities, and nation.
On October 9, 2014, 87 Signature HealthCARE centers across the southeast and midwest will induct over 350 distinguished individuals into the Hall of Fame, in local ceremonies featuring celebrity speakers and presentations about the inductees lives and accomplishments.
This event, which we believe is the largest and only of its kind, is an opportunity for us to extend gratitude to those who have given so much to our centers, communities and country. They come from all walks of life – war veterans and feminist icons to inventors, professional athletes, philanthropists and much more. We are proud to count them among those we serve and can only continue to benefit from their presence. The Hall of Fame ceremonies are a special day to hold them up as shining examples of human potential.
Signature HealthCare Resident Peter Panuthos had only dreamed of getting back onto the golf course, after his illness forced him into the loving hands of our long term care facility- Signature HealthCare of Orange Park Florida. Peter would ask his wife Jane Panuthos to bring his golf clubs and take him out golfing on a regular basis, Peter could not understand that his wife Jane could not do this alone due to Pete’s illness. When SHC administrator Alex Russell got word that we had a un-happy Resident she was on the phone immediately trying to make Pete’s dream a reality- Tee Time was set at Orange Park Golf and Country Club less than 2 miles from the facility. Ms. Jane was in shock…..Monday happened to also be their 22nd Wedding Anniversary.
Four of our Residents at SHC Of Orange Park, were treated to a night out at the Jacksonville Suns baseball game on Tues, Aug.21. Haven Hospice Ernie Cohen donated the tickets after hearing that Residents had been saving for months to attend the game. Residents were escorted by Signature Staff members, Supora Fairbanks & Dana Lucas.
On Thursday, July 28th, Signature HealthCare of Orange Park hosted a volunteer fair. At 3 o’clock in our Dining room, our volunteers gathered for an afternoon of education, appreciation, and fun!
Speakers included our QOL director, Administrator, Maintenance director, Rehab director, and Chaplain. All departments expressed gratitude for the volunteers and shared information that would be helpful to future visits in the building. Volunteers also experienced a fire-safety inservice.
Following the speakers, volunteers were invited to engage in a ‘virtual dementia experience’. They were put into a situation where they had limited vision, speech, and mobility and were able to experience a few moments of what some of our residents go through every day. This was very eye-opening and even emotional for some of the volunteers.
Raffles, and a food reception followed. All volunteers and staff had a great time and we look forward to doing this again in the future!
